Rise of Natural Looking Plastic Surgery

Young Australian women are now demanding “natural-looking” plastic surgery and subtle cosmetic enhancements to resemble Emily Ratajkowski, Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid.
A leading Australian plastic surgeon has reported a spike in demand for nose jobs, boob jobs and lipo among Aussie women in their 20s and 30s.
They’re increasingly requesting Ratajkowski’s breasts, Kardashian’s cheek bones, Hadid’s nose, and Kylie Jenner’s lips, with fillers becoming so common that having your lips “done” is almost normal.

Demand for lip jabs, as well as wrinkle-smoothing Botox, and laser and other skin treatments, is growing among younger women who are seeking “tweakments” — subtle, often non-surgical procedures that aren’t too obvious.
“Over-done, looking like somebody else, fake, is done,” said top Australian plastic surgeon Dr Chris Moss, of Liberty Belle Skin Centre .
“What’s ‘in’ is looking healthy, glowing, good skin tone and having some pretty features.”
Social media is fuelling the growth in demand for both plastic surgery and non-surgical procedures, with more photos taken and women increasingly confronted by their perceived flaws on Instagram and Snapchat.

“I think what’s driving that is an improvement in (surgical) techniques and just more pictures being taken ... and seeing themselves more,” Moss said.

“They’re saying, ‘I really don’t like that profile, I’m going to do something about it.’”
Lip injectibles are in-demand for women in their 20s and 30s, to give a “dewy look to the lips and extra volume”.
He said they were also requesting fillers to plump cheeks that “look very natural and give definition” and Botox injections to smooth crows feet and “give that fresh appearance”.
“There’s also skin laser-type treatments and dermal therapies and we’re finding that’s a very big growth area,” Moss said.
As for going under the knife, nose jobs, boob jobs and lipo are the most popular surgical procedures for young women.

Moss said breast augmentation — aka a boob job — had increased in popularity over the past decade.
But women were now asking for a natural-looking boob jobs, with “shape and proportion and what’s right for their bodies”, Moss said.
“It’s not seeing anywhere near the number of people wanting the biggest implants that they can get,” he said.

“There’s much more focus on shape, proportion and a lot more of my patients are having what we call ‘shaped implants’ rather than round implants.
“They’re an implant that has a teardrop shape that means it looks like a natural breast — it has the natural upper boarder, as opposed to the Baywatch look.”

So who do they want to look like? Model/actor Ratajkowski, for one.
“She’s slim but she’s got proportionate, natural-looking breasts,” Moss said.
“They’re not just looking at volume, they’re looking at shape, side boob, cleavage ... but (specifying), ‘I don’t want to look too out there.’”
